Artist Of The Week: PUJOL


Our Artist of the Week this week is PUJOL. And this bizarre music video makes me extremely uncomfortable. In a way, it serves as a metaphor for what PUJOL is – lo-fi, frenetic music that’s messy.

Kurt Vile shows his talents in his song, “Pretty Pimpin’.” Being the lead track off Vile’s most recent album, B’lieve I’m Goin Down…., “Pretty Pimpin’” definitely has a right to be number one. This single creates a laid back atmosphere with the inspiration of acoustic folk coupled with frenetic lyrics that reflect an identity crisis of sorts:

As of late, we’ve been hooked on The Wombats’ latest offering Glitterbug.  Their memorable lyrics – laced with a healthy dose of teen angst – glide over smartly crafted electronic soundscapes.  We believe this is what it would be like if Passion Pit’s sound and The 1975’s sound were wed in perfect matrimony.
